Hunter Valley Wine and Food Month

The Hunter Valley invites you to join them in a month long celebration. Throughout June come to the Hunter Valley to taste and smell freshly pressed olive oils, learn the intricacies of cheese making, dine in awarded restaurants and sample the Hunter's many delicacies paired with premium Hunter Valley wines.

Sample the Hunter Valley lifestyle: dine on local produce paired with a glass of Hunter Valley wine, taste wines from classic Hunter grape families with their makers at intimate Masterclasses, sup at the Winemakers Table, learn to cook Hunter-style with Hunter Chefs, join behind the scenes winery tours, relax at a wine and food fair, partake in a local produce tour, meet- the- makers tastings with cheeses, olives and wines.

Hunter Valley Steamfest

Australia’s premier Festival of Steam is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. Hunter Valley Steamfest, is again set to excite the crowds as the Maitland Railway Station precinct comes to life with the spirit of steam. Hunter Valley Steamfest has something to offer everyone.

Activities include Steam Engine Excursions; Tin Hare Vintage Rail Motor Journeys including rare and exclusive excursions on the 402 Engine; Specialty Steam Train Experiences including the Foreshore Flyer; The Great Train Race.

Don’t forget to visit the Steamfest Rally Ground featuring traction and portable engines, mini train rides, steam related talks and Powerhouse Museum display on all things trains. Catch the Auto Barn Maitland Show ‘n’ Shine with over 700 vintage and veteran bikes and cars (Sunday only).

Heaps of markets stalls, family and kids activities and entertainment including screening two train themed movies at Stars Behind Bars - Outdoor Cinema at Maitland Gaol to complete your weekend.

National Tree Day

Co-founded by Olivia Newton-John and Planet Ark in 1996, National Tree Day has grown into Australia’s biggest community tree-planting and nature protection event. Since then, more than 2 million volunteers have planted over 15 million native trees and shrubs.

Planet Ark is calling for volunteers to join the campaign and help plant a million new native trees and shrubs this National Tree Day. By taking part, you’ll have the opportunity to share your expertise and teach future generations how to care for and preserve our local native environment.
